Just thought I'd drop in since I've been following this thread. I've been talking to a Biostar USA rep over the last couple of weeks. I'm being told that they should have replacements available on 3/11, if all goes as planned. I'll hopefully have some confirmation of this by Monday. Much earlier than most of us thought.

I'm really liking this board. I have noticed one odd thing when I'm testing for stability on higher clocks. I can do a a 25 pass linX or Intel burn in, and I'll pass...but then the system will BSOD like 10 to 15 minutes after the test have completed successfully. I've owned dozens of boards, and I've never seen that before. Weird.
Hi Paulie, thanks for the update on the replacements and welcome. Any mention of new BIOS releases from the Biostar Rep ?

Regarding BSODs at idle, seems like alot of people have had this problem with Sandy Bridge, I'm pretty sure it's not a Biostar issue since there is mention of same issue in asus threads as well.

Can you pass prime95 blend for 1hr ? Some people think linX is easier to pass than prime95 blend on SB. If you want, post your OC settings here and which BIOS you are on, and we'll take a look and see if anything stands out.

Welcome!

I'll give the rep a call tonight or tomorrow and ask about the bios update.

Interesting that the the BSOD after stability testing is a common issue. I wonder what is causing it after the system is no longer stressed? It just doesn't make sense to me. I'll post some screenies tonight if I have some time. I'm on the 126 bios by the way.

Overall though, I'm impressed with the board, but I'm still undecided about the platform since it doesn't allow for more subtle cpu/memory clock speeds with multiplier overclocking...but you just can't deny overall performance.

Ugotd8: I emailed the rep with your command rate issue and a new bios date. He's gonna get back to me on the bios date, but he would like to know if Cpu-z still reads 1T with just one stick installed and set at 2T in the bios.

Confirmed, I removed both sticks and placed one at a time in DIMM slot #1. Set to 2T in BIOS and each time CPU-Z 1.56.3 showed 1T. Thanks for the help with this, greatly appreciated.

I just downgraded to 118 and my stability has improved alot. games are not crashing on me now. I think the entire sandy bridge line has some crazy bugs. I recently got my hands on an Asus p8p67pro and had issues with it. It is funny how these are so buggy, maybe next batch will good.

I think the stability issues you guys are seeing is from damaged cpu's, no one is seeing the elephant in the room. Just a hunch.

Anyway I ordered the Biostar H67 board, technically you can overclock the gpu with it. Any chance we could add all Sandy Bridge Biostar mother boards to this discussion thread?

I believe it's actually one of the c states that's causing the problem. The higher number c state limit (i.e c3, c6 etc) the cpu goes into a deeper sleep. Setting it [under cpu config] to c0 causes it to still idle fairly low and it solved idle bsod issue for me, going on a month of use from last BSOD. I believe asus even recommended SB owners to play with the power state limits if experiencing stability issues. C0 also increased my gpu scores in 3dmark 11 and Vantage, but my Turbo is buggy, it might not affect your scores at all, although it may affect your stability.

Excellent info, thanks ! So, quoting from the manual:

Power Technology
This item enables the power management features.
Options: Energy Efficient (Default) / Disabled / Custom
CPU C3 Report
This item enables/disables CPU C3 (ACPI C2) report to OS.
Options: Disabled (Default) / ACPI C-2 / ACPI C-3
CPU C6 Report
This item enables/disables CPU C6 (ACPI C3) report to OS.
Options: Enabled (Default) / Disabled
Package C State Limit
This item sets Package C State Limit.
Options: No Limit (Default) / C0 / C1 / C6 / C7

I assume you just set 'Power Technology' to 'Custom' and 'Package C State Limit' to 'C0' ? Did you need to disable C3 & C6 Report ?

I've never had the idle BSOD issue, but that only proves once again that all CPUs are different. :-)

Sorry I should have been more specific, enable C6 Report or else you will idle at 40c, C6 lowers it down to about 26c for me, C3 is completely optional, and yes the main idea is changing Package C state limit to C0. C1 Limit seems identical to C0 so you can try that as well.

I realized yesterday that my 2500k spends more time at 1.6ghz than at 5ghz while i am playing MW2 or League of Legends. Which is wierd, I built this computer for gaming and it treats my games like I'm idlin'. I hope someone makes a little application that can keep it at 5ghz for gaming purposes. The intel support guy told me the cpu microcode is what decides when the cpu should be at the multi you set it to (for example 50x for me) and when it should be at 16x (idle multi) so i hope next bios will have updated cpu microcode and the DREADED selectable command rate, it's making me not want to buy this WICKED kit (62$= g.skill ripjaw x 2133 2x2gb 9-11-9-28 2T)

Might need BIOS 118 so you can run 2t at stock volts with these

They are not on TP67XE memory support list but it's designed for Sandy Bridge, that's their whole marketing shpiel.
