Ugotd8: I received a reply from the Biostar rep. Can you PM me with screenies? Here is his request:

"Can you take screen shots of CPUZ showing?

Mutliple CPU windows shows
Memory, motherboard, SPD, CPU, TABS."

Setting it [under cpu config] to c0 causes it to still idle fairly low and it solved idle bsod issue for me, going on a month of use from last BSOD. I believe asus even recommended SB owners to play with the power state limits if experiencing stability issues. C0 also increased my gpu scores in 3dmark 11 and Vantage, but my Turbo is buggy, it might not affect your scores at all, although it may affect your stability.
Repped for apparently solving my BSOD issues after stability testing. No longer getting it at 4.6 and 4.7, when I was getting BSOD just about every time after I ran LinX etc.

Check this out http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...any-speed.html

I may be full of it, but it sure is stable. ;-)

Glad I could help. I guess it's not as easy to tame Sandy Bridge as people made it out to be during release. I know I've had a few issues myself, nothing a little tweaking didn't solve.

Do you guys think Ivy Bridge will use the same overclocking method as Sandy Bridge or rather the arguably funner 1366 socket way where you had more variables?

I'm hoping that it gives both unlocked multipliers and BCLK overclocking, but I haven't been able to confirm anything. Even an Intel contact of mine is very quiet about this.

SB does have it's quirks like every platform, but it's very early in the game. When bios matures, we will see fewer and fewer glitches.

For those of you interested, bios F307 is available. A Biostar rep emailed it to me this morning.

It was sent as a direct download. Not sure if it's available to the public yet. PM me your email address, and I'll send you the file. Same goes for anyone else here who wants it.

Command rate bug is fixed. :-) Thanks Paulieg for seeing this thru. Greatly appreciated.

Preliminary linX testing indicates to me they may have done some tightening of vdroop & LLC.

Testing at 47 with int pll disabled, BIOS vcore 1.31:

Idle 1.308, max 1.344 with no jitter during load. (I'm just watching cpu-z and Toverclocker).

F307 problems so far:

Minor: keyboard repeat not working. Not able to hold the down or up arrow and scroll thru options on the O.N.E. page

Major: After a BSOD, on the windows recovery page when windows 7 asks if you want to boot to safe mode or boot windows normally, the keyboard is not functional (USB). Have to wait the full 30 seconds, once in windows, keyboard works ok. Luckily "start windows normally" is the default choice, otherwise I'd be stuck with whatever the default choice was.

Still to be fixed:

Other mfgrs. allow two things that we need for OC'ing, one is the ability to lower the BCLK below 100, the other is the ability to lower CPU PLL below 1.700 (some OC'ers report using 1.55 with success).

Also, I'd love to understand how this happens:

BIOS BCLK: 10000 - CPU-Z BCLK: 100.1
BIOS BCLK: 10010 - CPU-Z BCLK: 100.0

Yes, raising BCLK in BIOS by one notch actually lowers the BCLK shown in CPU-Z.

Fun stuff. :-)
