That ram is badly matched. For one thing, 1155 chips don't have the dividers to run 2400 speed and second that voltage is a bit high, putting a lot of unneeded voltage thru your IMC.

I have a B3 TP67XE that is in my kids' rig with an i3 2120. I was planning to upgrade to a 2500K or 2600K, but now that IB chips are out and competitively priced, I was thinking about picking up a i5 3750K. I checked the Biostar website and found the new BIOS supports this chip, so I flashed using the Windows BIOS updater. The system was completely stock before doing so. However, after rebooting, the system will no longer load Windows. Specs are as follows:

TP67XE
i3 2120 @ stock
Kingston Value Ram @ stock (1333 @ 1.5v)
WD Black 750GB
SATA DVD burner
Radeon 4xxx series cards (I can't remember which ATM) tongue.gif

The system posts just fine, and starts to load Windows 7 (64-bit Ultimate BTW). The Windows logo comes up and starts to spin the dots and them it goes black and reboots. Tried changing SATA settings in the BIOS (although I don't recall changing them before), flipping compatible for sata1 to enhance, tried changing IDE to AHCI and Raid, tried setting memory speed and voltage manually and a few other minor things. Also tried reloading defaults after the issue popped up, but still no luck.

From the symptoms it seems like it's drive/controller related. I had absolutely ZERO issues with stability before and always ran everything in this rig @ stock. Please help sad-smiley-002.gif

Does it have hot plugging/hot swapping/eSATA option? Make sure those are disabled.

Only when the controller is set to ACHI. If I turn it to IDE it's not there. Going to try throwing another drive in the system and doing a fresh install on that. Some other searches I found related to this suggest it was the controller being flipped with the upgrade (as I had suspected), but booting it up without realizing it toasted the OS. There's no restore or disk repair that is able to fix this for me. At least if I install on a new drive I can pull files off the old one (or from backups).

Has anyone gotten an IB chip to work in this board? I'm curious to see how well it overclocks.
