Frustrated with overclocking 2600k on p67 Asus board - Page 3

Wow.... I installed the Asus Suite II... it required a reboot... I reboot... and now it's not on my computer.

What is with my luck... nothing just works for me. I assembled a 2500 build for my dad and it's so simple. Yet my build nope... every single component has to make me want to rip my lungs out.

Try CPU Ratio: Auto and overclock only via Turbo.

I'll try that.

It's weird though, I don't understand why my Bus Speed is being auto calibrated. Sometimes it's changed to 212.5MHz and my multiplier down to x16, and sometimes it's at 75.6MHz and multi to x16.

Here's a s/s of me running everything at peak. It wouldn't even let the turbo go past 3.4GHz to the promised 3.8GHz turbo speeds:

Anyways, I'll try setting CPU Ratio to Auto and report back.

No luck.

What's with this... I'm so frustrated it's unbelievable. I've been working on this since 10PM and it's not 2:06AM... 4 hours of wasted time.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I'm really upset :-/ I bought premium parts and there's not one person nor one guide that will direct me to a solution. I don't understand why my bus speed is changing itself so when the multiplier changes, my core speed remains at 3400MHz at load.

Hm, that´s weird mate, but however you can always try my settings, maybe those pictures will help you...I don´t know(those are my settings for 2500k but should work on 2600k too)...

Note: some settings in pictures are outdated, current settings in brackets:

Still nothing working

Is there by any chance anything other than CPU-Z that I can use to check my processor on? CPU-Z seems to be reporting the correct stuff, but I might as well be sure.

I'm so mad about this right now... I tried contacting Asus tech support and they force you to fill out so many details I'd have to go and get my receipts and start writing details down to send them my life story (to ask about a motherboard you have to tell them your graphics card model and other things about it... your BIOS revision on your motherboard even if it's bought brand new... etc).

I have tried everything. Copying other peoples' settings... what have you.

Not only this, but my Asus Disc which comes with my motherboard won't update the BIOS or install the driver stuff, it just has an error and crashes. Asus website doesn't have any support for this.

This is the weirdest thing I've ever really encountered. I don't understand how this can even be happening.

I feel helpless... is there no one here who has the expertise to help me?

The HT on all screenshots I've seen is always 100Hz and it never sways. My HT is constantly switching around.

The max speed my processor will reach is 3400MHz no matter what I do now.

Ai Overclock Tuner - Manual (set to manual)
BCLK/PEG Frequency - 100.0 (leave alone)
Turbo Ratio - By All Cores (do not do per a core)
By All Cores (Can Adjust in OS) - set between 42-47
Memory Frequency - adjust to your frequency
EPU Power Saving Mode - Enabled (leave this on)
EPU Setting - Auto (leave at auto)

DIGI+ VRM
Load-line Calibration - Auto (leave at auto, don't adjust)
VRM Frequency - Manual (set manual)
VRM Fixed Frequency Mode - 350 (set to 350, don't use anything else)

CPU Voltage - Manual Mode (manually adjust the voltage)
CPU Manual Voltage - at 42x-45x use about 1.30v-1.35v, if you going to try for 46x+ use 1.4v-1.425v
DRAM Voltage - use your DRAM specified voltage older is 1.65, P67 certified is 1.5v
VCCSA Voltage - Auto (do not adjust this voltage)
VCCIO Voltage - Auto (do not adjust leave auto)
CPU PLL Voltage - Auto (do not adjust this either)
PCH Voltage - Auto (PLL PCH is for BCLK don't mess with leave at auto)

Turbo - Enabled (leave on don't turn off)
CPU C1E - Enabled (leave this on also)
CPU C3 Report - Enabled (leave this on too)
CPU C6 Report - Enabled (this on too)

The only thing you need to change is voltage core for the CPU. 1.3v-1.35 if you want 4.2-4.5Ghz and use 1.4v-1.45v if you want to hit 4.7Ghz and adjust voltage for higher overclock. Asus recommend leaving C1E, C3, C6, and EIST on. I agree with them, I run about 1.425v at 4.7Ghz 24/7 stable. I test through IBT a few times but I did real world test in BFBC2 for 8 hours gameplay. And I test it 8 hours DC Universe Online, no crashes, no slow down, no stuttering. Most 2600K will be able to hit 4.7Ghz, at 4.7Ghz is where the wall is. If you try to go beyond this you will need to push close to 1.5v to be stable at 5.0Ghz. I know someone is going to say they got 5.0Ghz at 1.4v-1.45v, but not everyone owns same golden chip as you do . But at 4.7Ghz games run well with no problems. It's when I try for 5Ghz everything is unstable and I have to push too much voltage for it to even be worth it, and of course it increases too much thermals. So try this, if it don't work then keep boosting your voltage a bit you will be able to get stable. If it's not stable then you must have the worst 2600K chip ever. Sorry .
