[FDN] Tatooine's twin suns - coming to a planet near you - Page 7

Even if a star becomes a black hole its relatively harmless. Black holes don't magically "suck" everything up, it will just be the mass of whatever remains from the dead star and objects could orbit it in roughly the same manor as it was when it was a star. The only way black holes can become larger is if something crosses its path and gets caught in its event horizon. A black hole Betelgeuse would continue its own orbit around the galactic center just as Betelgeuse the giant star did.

lol no, twin stars like in Tatooine are actual binary star systems where there are two stars that orbit each other (binary systems are actually very common).

If Betelgeuse goes super nova it will become the 2nd brightest object in the sky and would be visible in the day time, but it definitely won't be like being in an actual binary system.

It is entirely possible for a supernova to outshine its host galaxy during the initial core collapse and shedding of matter. Supernovae release more energy in seconds than the original star did during its entire life.

Speed requires acceleration. As an object's speed approaches the speed of light, the energy required to accelerate it past the speed barrier approaches infinity. Since the universe is finite, there is no such thing as infinite energy, and thus the speed is unachievable.

Seriously people, get prepared. 2012 is no joke. When the time comes and the match is lit behind your little bottom, you better pray you have water to put it out. Otherwise you'll end up with gooey shorts when you realize the power that 2012 draws.

As an ancient wise scholar once said,

"He who believes does not fear the belief but the effects that rain down upon it. But he who doesn't believe has no fear at all for he is unaware of it's existence. The day will come when both men meet and their two worlds collide with a force that the third man has been planning in the background. Make do much can." - An Ancient Wise Scholar

2012 - Twenty - Twelve - How many licks will it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll? Hurry up and start licking people, the world is coming under fire and the world may never know!

A light year is equal to the distance light travels in a one year period (according to our time keeping). Thus light from the star (Betelgeuse) takes (roughly) 1300 years to reach the distance at which we're at from it. So your comment is a bit confusing to me.

( edit )

Oh, and ... 2012. Twenty-twelve.
