Good combination. But if your a basshead don't go with the ath series. These cans hardly have any bass. That is also the reason why they are good for gaming, because the lack of bass = bigger stoundstage.

i wouldn't consider myself a basshead, but i do like a good explosion in games and movies are the ATH-A700 good for that. my budget can also stretch to 250 if there's a good step up in that range.

or this set up http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102024

i also only have logitech 2.1 speakers so for the sound card, something that works best for headphones only as i don't plan on upgrading speakers.

Can't comment on the soundcard, it has good reviews though. Also I've never heard the sennheiser 518. The only sennheiser I've got are the HD 25-II. Don't think they are comparable though.

As for what is more important headphone of soundcard?

Well I see it this way:

Source --> (amp) --> headphone

So bad source = bad audio. And therefore whenever you buy or upgrade anything, Soundardcard comes first.

Nah. I'd say the headphone is more important than the source. I suppose it would depend on just how bad the source is. But around this level I'd be going for better phones over better sound card.

To take the counter argument to Fjankie's, clearly if the headphones are a poorer quality then it doesn't matter which source you use, it wont sound good. You're less likely to tell a difference between soundcards than headphones.
