Windows Unzipping file ridiculously slow

Thread Starter
I extracted a zipped file a few weeks ago and it was really slow, like 30KB/s slow, and I didn't think much of it until I started classes yesterday.

In my classes we need to get all the programs and what not for the semester and it took me about an hour to unzip the file for Eclipse IDE. Whereas everyone else took about 3 minutes tops.....

My laptop wasn't being overly stressed by anything else and the CPU usage was reasonable at about 35-50% I have a Core 2 2.2ghz and haven't really had this problem before...

I have no clue how you would fix such a thing either.

Any suggestions.

probably depends on the version of the compression software that you used; winrar, 7-zip, universal extractor... maybe you need a more recent version.
a stuck/hung app in windows background sucking up resources at the time of the trouble maybe?
a watched pot doesnt boil

there was no stuck app in the background

I didn't compress the files it was done by the people that make Eclipse and another piece of software (i dont recall what)

and an hour is ridiculous even for a watched pot. I've had this laptop for 3 years and its never taken that long.
