Best ATT Android phone?

Hey cell phone experts!

Assume I've been out of the loop for a while on the phones. My last few phones have been: iPhone 4 -> iPhone 3GS -> iPhone 3G -> iPhone... ok, you get it.

To be perfectly honest; however, I actually despise all things Apple. It's time for me to move on. I need an Android phone.

So, could anyone kindly list, I don't know, the top 3 best Android phones I can get with ATT? Cost is not a factor. I want a big, beautiful screen.

Even list phones that I could acquire outside of ATT and throw the SIM card in to. Would any GSM phone work like that? I suppose it would need unlocked first?

Thanks guys <33

I'd have to say the Samsung Galaxy S (Captivate) would be on top. Nice big and bright screen. Fast and it's Samsung They make damn good phones and this one is their best IMO. After that one though, it's kind of a toss up. The HTC Aria would probably be my second choice, and Motorola Backflip 3rd.

The Galaxy S Captivate is your best bet if your not interested in buying a T-Mobile phone, getting it unlocked, and possibly flashing Android to it.

The Samsung Captivate would be the best choice for now until they release new android devices on AT&T. The Captivate is a Galaxy S phone, it has a big AMOLED screen which is going to be exactly what you are looking for. It is also very fast and powerful containing a 1GHz Hummingbird processor...fits your needs.

Loving my Captivate for six months! Do it!!! Especially now that they've found all the bugs and (I believe) are putting a newer version OS on them.

Captivate is the best, but Galaxy S phones in the US are terrible. GPS issues, refusal to release 2.2. It's a sad state.

If you can, try to wait until the Atrix comes out. qHD screen, 1GB of RAM, Tegra 2 Processor, HDMI Mirroring, PC docking station. That thing's a monster. The only problem is that it will likely have a locked bootloader.

Hm, the Atrix does look really nice. How much would you wager that's going to cost? I'd be paying retail price for it. I think the Captivate is $500? Just wondering how much more I should expect to pay for that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but next gen phones are being released soon are they not? LG and someone else already announced it, Samsung has confirmed a new king of the hill (i8510, i9000, etc) which would be better than the current Galaxy S. Should be announced mid next month, that's what I'm waiting for, my 3gs will hold till then!

higher end smart phones cost around $500-600, I'll be very surprised if the Atrix is more than that
