iPhone/iPod Touch question (Ski/Snowboarding related)

Thread Starter
I've been skiing a TON this year and it seems I spend more time thinking about skiing than anything these days!

It's come time to replace my trusty Sansa E280 with something from the iPod line. I got a helmet with a drop in audio kit that lets me pause, play and skip tracks from the controller but it ONLY works with newer iPods from what the instructions say.

4th/5th gen nano
2nd-4th gen Touch
7th gen classic
iPhone 3GS and 4

I'm trying to decide between a 32GB 3rd gen touch and a 5th Gen nano with the only thing holding me back is wondering how durable the Touch will be while skiing. I will get a wallet for it to cover the glass and it's going in an inside jacket breast pocket with my phone and no other items.

Does anyone ski or board with a Touch or iPhone? Have you had any damage caused by vibrations or hard falls? I know they're solid state so the only thing I'm worried about is the glass and the motion/touch sensors.

The nano or the classic with a thick rubber cover would be your best bet. Get the nano if your music is small in size, but the classic for more gigabytes. The iTouch or the iPhone is much less durable due to the touch screens and that they're larger in size..

I work out with my iPhone 4. A iPod Touch would be fine if you get something to partially protect the screen.

How big is your music collection? and how much do you see if growing by in the next year or so?

Answering those two questions will give you a better idea of what it suitable.
