6850 stuttering in fullscreen - 6850 bug?

Hi! Recently i made an upgrade from 8800gt to 6850 and i'm having problems with my new toy. I made fresh install, so there are no Nvidia drivers that could cause this:

in many games there is stuttering when i play in fullscreen mode, and it looks that the cause are the applications that are "showing" something (like CPUID Hardware Monitor showing fan speeds and temperatures, or some downloader that shows speed of download, or even Windows Menager showing CPU usage - applications are not minimalised, but working on desktop) - every time applications are updating/refreshing what they are showing, then application in fullscreen has a lag. So more applications showing something, the more stuttering you have in game (on 8800gt everything was ok).

I have made some tests with few demo games and i'm having the same issues on some of them like in SimBin games GTR2, GT Legends or WTTC Race - all of them have the same issues. Another demos that have this issues are games from THQ: Company of Heroes, Dawn of War: Dark Crusade or for example Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. I will try some more to see what could be the reason (some game engines are not working with 6850 properly?).

Someone is playing those games on 6850? Are you having the same problems? Everything is ok when i change to windowed mode...

Demos that looks don't have this problem (or the stuttering is so small, to not care about it) are: Crysis, Prey, Bioshock.

If someone can help me with my problem, i would be very grateful! Thanks in advance!

it could be driver issue have you try changing to old driver instead see if that works.

Which model of 6850 you have?

A few questions before most people can try and help.

1) What is your CPU processor / speed
2) What is your PSU company / watt
3) What driver set are you using currently or have already tried
4) What make of 6850 and is it overclocked (if so what are the speeds)

The stuttering can be anything from the card not getting enough power, to just a bad set of drivers. We need some more "background" information then just what is happening to try and solve the problem.

Thanks for answer!

I tried 10.10 wich came with the card, and the newest 10.12.

The card is from HIS: HIS Radeon HD 6850
http://www.guru3d.com/article/his-radeon-6850-6870-review/5

Thanks one more time!

CPU is 965BE on stock
Fortron FSP something - 400W
See above, on stock.

I know, that PSU is a litte to weak, but if that would be the case that PSU has something to do with it, it would stutter in games like Crysis, not games that are 2/3times less demanding.

yeah fill in your system spec. and try out 10.11 driver see if it fix your issue.

EDIT: first try out 10.11 driver if it doesn't fix your problem It could be your psu.

Ok, i will try do do it right now, but theory about PSU is not an option - it would not make any sense.

my 6 year old pc had similar problem like your. it had only 350 watt psu after upgrading new gpu and cpu on my old mother board it had several issue with it 350 watt should've been barely enough to run the upgrade but after changing psu fix my problem.

I understand that you could have such issue, but this is not a magic it is simple electronics - if you have no issue in very demanding game, that needs more power, than it can't be the issue when the game needs 1/3 less power...

Installer 10.11 gives me no option to install CCC or even display driver... Any other suggestions? :/
