You could probably get the amp and sansa clip for ~200 but decent headphones are gonna cost around ~100 I'm talking high powered cans earbud's are generally trash. Best earbud's i have heard are Sennheiser CX 500-B, don't need a amp for that.
can you link me to a good portable amp then?

My whole goal of this is to top a traditional itouch + beats set up

If you're going to spend $80 or more on earbuds, you might as well get a decent pair of headphones.

Not everyone wants to walk around with headphones?

Much better if you spend much more on the earphones and have it ampless. If applicable, what is your new total then?

I need to get earbuds as they're much more portable. Total with earbuds + fuze is 160$

Dude, the built in amp in the Fuze is fine for the RE0. That setup will destroy an itouch+beats (yes I have heard that combo.)

As for longevity, I have been using both of mine for 2 years. The fuze looks a little worn but that's because I'm a clumsy oaf.

okay, a bit of a change of plans. I can spend a bit more on earbuds (around 150$) if it's worth it

Would of thought a external dac/amp would be wasted on earbuds. The Kiplish buds are good for Metal, but also look at the Sennheisers; in my experience they have been great for that.
