Need someone to write extremely simple program for me.

Thread Starter
I am looking for someone who can write a program for me, it would probably take an experienced programmer 5 minutes or less. Alas my area of expertise is in graphics and audio/video, not programming.

It's for a good cause. It's a program that could help people with stroke-damage to their visual cortex regain some vision. I'm trying to help my father out. Initially I was going to make something like this using the video creation software I'm familiar with, but I think a program would be better.

Here is what I need:

A simple program that when executed goes fullscreen and displays a solid bright green background. somewhere on the screen there should be a small black square randomly placed. when the user presses the spacebar (to confirm they've found the square) it should disappear and another random black square should appear somewhere else. pressing escape should close the program.

Thank you so much for looking at this. Any help would be most appreciated.

I know that this would be easily possible with visual basic, but i don't know how many different square combinations i could add in, because i don't know of a way to make the square random.

I wish I knew something about programming, but my coding skills are no further along than writing a simple "hello world" program in Qbasic.

you dont make the square random, you make the position grid random. basically generate 2 coordinates randomally to assign a single object.

I'm no programmer so maybe I'm just spitting nonsense, but what if you made say 500 different locations but wrote the program so it would display 1 of these 500 locations, randomly chosen, after each space bar press so there wasn't a chance of memorizing a pattern

Oh ok, i understand how i could make that work.

I don't know how to generate random numbers in visual basic yet. I am only in my second week of class.

Because then you have to tell the program of the 500 different possible coordinates instead of telling it to randomly choose some from a given set. You would have to type out 500 different sets instead of giving it a range to choose from.

this might sound dumb, try using Adobe Flash (even an older version) very simple to use and very basic. with an hour you can have your program running. tons of tutorials online as well.

so i just figured out how to generate two random number with a given range just by pushing a button, so now i need to figure out how to have a square that has a position then i can have those numbers be put into the coordinance for the square.
(I can't spell)

So i have it all worked out.

working on finishing up the program.
