Just got my 580 in the mail

Thread Starter
Ordered last friday, came in today. Install was painless.

One concern though, when I first booted up there was very soft, low pitch "beeps", but sounded more like "boop" or "bop", that seemed to be coming from the card. They've seemed to gone away since I installed the newest drivers, released today I think, but I'm just wondering should I be worried about this?

The only cause that I can think of is the way I'm giving it power, I've got 6pin pcie to 6+2pin pcie extensions from NZXT, and I'm curious if it's going to be getting enough power from these, since they only use 6 of the 8 pins that come from my power supply, but supply power to 8 pins.

Thanks in advance, and I already feel better getting the 5770's out of my computer.

I get a "popping" sound everytime I shutdown or startup but I have no idea if that's the GPU or sound card.

My money is on your sound card. A quick check is to turn off the speakers connected to your card. then shutdown/ turn on and see if you still get the popping.

I have a soundcard and get a popping sound when my speakers are on and I reboot/ whatever.

The popping is the DC spike you get with cheap sound cards. My Xonar has protection for that and it is SO NICE compared to my old Sound Blaster POS that I'm quiet sure damaged my monitors (speakers durhurr) with that.
