Lawyers for the defense!

Did you or did you not provide all comsumers of starcraft a optional modder?

Blizzard; Umm aughhh..
Defense Lawyer; Answer!
Blizzard; well yes, yes we did.
Defense Lawyer; So you admittedly admit you made a game mod for use too the users of the game and now you are using this very mod to entrap my client?

just change the name to something like "IIOCRAFT" or some other moon from Saturn/Jupiter.
Activision is getting evil are they? What's happening to them?
Activision does not own Blizzard. The person/people who spread this false rumor should be given high praise for how well they planted this seed into the minds of OCNers. Just like the whole Fermi is super hot rumor.

Do you guys not remember how angry StarCraft and StarCraft II fans were when someone posted a thread about the World of StarCraft rumor? They don't want it. Like one of the previous poster has stated, they had to make a decision, and they've made it. They care about their SC fan base.

You'd be extremely naive to think that Blizzard could not have done this already. Think about that for a second.

While I agree with that you have to admit they'd rather not give up the option to have a Starcraft MMO or have someone "taint it" with their own version of the game.

Besides all the 'who owns what nonsense', I think a World Of Starcraft game would kick butt.

So toms hardware says that the guy got a job offer from zileas at riot games. This might turn out to be pretty epic

As posted in the other thread about this subject:

Its not the "World of" that is the problem or that he uses "Starcraft" in the name. We know Blizzard doesnt care so much beacuse even in W3 we have mods like World of Warcraft or Warcraft Heroes or Warcraft X, Warcraft Y.

World of is also not the porblem since we have games like World of Tanks etc.

The problem Blizzard has is the COMBINATION of these two. Why? Because they already have a game called "World of InsertIP". Someone who just sees World of Starcraft without putting too much research into it will naturally assume that Blizzard is the creator of the game. Which they do not. Also since they USE World of InsertIP it is logical that they want to keep WoStarcraft/Diablo for themselves just incase in the future they DO wish to use the name.

He could call it Starcraft Universe and Blizzard would probably not even care.

Well said.

Take for example.. Counterstrike. This was a mod built out of Halflife. It used the mod tools from Halflife but created a seperate IP. It was original and did not infringe on Halflife in content OR name!

Hell, if they had created the same game yet called it Halflife Tactical I have no doubt Valve would have had to stop them and would have been right to do so. Instead they were smart and created a unique and new IP. Thats how it should be done. Thats modding talent!

The mod tools being used is not the issue here, it's all to do with the naming and content. Unlike CS, this guy did not create from these mod tools a seperate IP; rather he made his vision from existing Blizzard IP and thats just too close to home for Blizzard.

Lol @ everyone slamming Blizzard for protecting their interests. The guy went to far, he used the mod tools and then abused them. Nothing about his content is original.
