My "Blackhawk" Build

Thread Starter
Forgive the unoriginal name for the rig (I'm taking it from the name of the case), but I figured it's time for me to make a nice long, detailed log of my build. It will (obviously) be a work in progress. I would have put it in the case mod section, but I'm really not doing anything extravagant to the case itself other than some aftermarket fans and future planned sleeving. If in the future mods feel it should be moved to the case mods section, I have no qualms with it being put there.

So without further adeiu, I give you, "The Blackhawk"!!!

Case - Rosewill Blackhawk with a plethora of fans - eight not counting the H50 P/P

Motherboard - AsRock P67 Extreme6

Processor - Intel i5 2500K

Cooling - Corsair Hydro Series H50 in a P/P with AP-14 pushing and AP-15 pulling

RAM - OCZ Reaper HPC 1600MHz (12800) DDR3 2x2GB

GPU's - ASUS GTX 460 768MB CU TOP x 2/EVGA 9800GT

Power Supply - XFX Black Edition 750w

Boot Drive - OCZ Vertex 30GB SSD

Data Drive - WD 320GB Caviar Blue

Not precisely your gaming monster, but I'm a man of modest upbringing, hence I do not need the latest and greatest. Further, I'm a folding fanatic and have been gearing my hardware for that purpose

Thank you - comments welcome!!

OCZ 500W PSU + 2 video cards (emphasis on the fact that it's an OCZ), no mosfet heatsinks.... I smell trouble, oh dear, abandon ship--
post #4 of 27
Isn't the 450 faster than the 9800, or is it going to be for folding?

Actually the OCZ ModXtream Pro 500 is not a bad power supply at all. What I am worried about is the graphics card choice. Did you already have those cards because I really hope you didn't buy them new...

Probably not going to be OC'ing the x6 until I get a better PSU

Just for folding....also, the 9800 fits in the x16 slot...I've rigged the 450 into an x1 slot

Yes, I've had the 9800 for a year, and the 450 for a month or so. My plan is to have 3-5 450's in the "final" installment...obviously, the 770 MOBO will have to go, and a 700w+ PSU at least

wow, rosewill has really stepped up their cases.

I'm going to do an unboxing/pictoral of the case probably this weekend. I'm also updating the original post, based on the constructive comments, outlining that most of my components I already have, and which ones I really "WANT" for the build.
