Currently looking for a cheap 45nm quad core. Not sure which one is the best. Budget is about £100.

You could probably pick up a Q9400 2nd hand for that price

brand new you're looking at maybe a Q8200 or something.

I dont mind used, as long as it hasnt been ragged to hell and back.

you might be able to get a really good used Q9550 if you're lucky with that budget.

Otherwise you're looking at the Q9400, or Q8200

but used for that much? depends what you have to choose from really.

Stay away from the q8300 and 8400,they aren't very good clockers.A q9400 might be right up your alley.

I'd like a quad that can be good with encoding HD video, folding and gaming. And OC'ing too

Misleading title, but you could probably get a brand new Q8400 or a used Q9400/Q9450.

I say wait a while, scrape some more moeny and go for a Q9550(used or new).

Or I bet you could get a q6600 for pretty cheap, used of course.
