Third HDD not showing up...

Ok, so I'm going to say in advance that some of the things I'm posting here won't make sense to most, but I do things differently from most. Decided I need a bigger HDD than my 320gb. Went to local Wal Mart (I live in the sticks, so nothing else around here) and picked up a 2TB Seagate external, and extracted the drive from the enclosure and made it an internal. Cloned my old HDD, and all is well.

Had an older external Western Digital that I thought didn't work, but I decided to extract it as well, and it works as an internal.

Now for the problem. Also have a newer external WD 1TB, and decided I might as well make THAT an internal as well. After I installed it and started the computer back up, Windows said the drivers installed correctly, but the drive isn't showing up in My Computer. It shows up under Device Manager, but is not accessible in Windows for some reason. Any ideas?

All 3 are SATA drives.

Sounds to me like you might need to check in Disk Management. Try there and see what it says, you might just need to reformat it and then you'll be a okay.

I'm actually going through something like this with one of my VR's. How do you reformat if it doesnt show up under My Comp?

This, plus the fact that I have a bit of stuff on there that I'd rather not lose. It was working fine in the external enclosure, no reason it shouldn't be showing up now. I even tried rearranging SATA connections, and still no change.

Ok, ***, in Disk Management it says "Unallocated" for that drive. Sonofa.... If I lost all the data on there...well, not a huge deal, since it was basically a backup for what's on my main HDD, but still.

ETA: Only option when right-clicking the missing drive is "New Simple Volume" which appears to format it. Damnit, can't figure out why it would suddenly be missing everything.

Sounds to me like the disk is blank. Or try booting into a LiveCD like Ubuntu and seeing if the drive is indeed empty. If not, then use Linux to back up your files before reformatting it in Windows.
