for fair gaming reso's it will be fine but going all over high territory that might give a performance pull-down..

Anybody know ? i wanted to buy another 6950 today but im still abit unsure if its worth it =( people are saying theres not much difference then others saying it aint worth it .. im stuck here..

I play all my games at 1080p , games i play frequently are dirt 2 , street fighter 4 , black ops , just cause 2 .. im looking at some info here and its saying my first lane has a bandwidth of 5gb/s i cant seem to find info on the second pcie port though they say its 4x im curious to know the bandwidth and if i have usb 3.0 and sata 3.0 off will it be enough for another 6950 ..I have seen some good gains from xfiring in 4x but im still not convinced to spend 400 on another card if its not going to achieve anything .

The performance difference is 10% between x4 and x16 PCI-E 2.0. Techpowerup or some place had a graph a while back. Even x1 delivered 70% of x16's performance.

My question is why are you buying the card anyway?!?! Unless you're going for a 3 monitor eyefinity setup, that card maxes all your games out already.

I have a similar setup:

Gigabyte GA880-UD3H
Phenom II X4 970 @ 4 GHz
8GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Sapphire 6950 1GB @16x
Sapphire 6950 1GB @4x
750 Watt PSU

I have been having big issues with either not getting any faster frames, or in the case of other games (Mainly some Crysis Warhead Mods, and Crysis 2) get no increase in frame rates coupled with major screen flicker/tearing and shader flashing... The water and terrain shaders flash and flicker really badly when ever there is ambient light shining on them.

I have tried multiple things to figure out what the issue is, but have had no luck so far...

Any suggestions?
