Build for a friend, please review

Thread Starter
My friend is looking to build his own computer and he has a $500 budget. He will be using it for general use and some light gaming (Minecraft, Day of Defeat: Source, other Source games). He wants it to last for a few years. He will not be overclocking.

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=14942825

CPU: Athlon II X4 635
MoBo: Asus M4A77TD
RAM: G.Skill DDR3 1333 4GB
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500gb
GPU: EVGA GTS 250 1gb
PSU: Antec EarthWatts 500W
Case: NZXT Beta EVO
and a $16 dvd drive.

Total: $498. I believe all items have free shipping as well.

Would a GTS 450 not be cheaper?

Here is a much better all-around parts choice:

Athlon II x4 640 + M4A79XTD EVO - $184, $169 AR
Corsair XMS3 1600 7-8-7 - $55 (ShellShocker deal valid for another 7 1/2 hours till tonight! Go get it while you can)
Antec NEO ECO 520C + Gigabyte GTS 450 - $170, $145 AR (Same price as an Antec EA-500D + GTS 250 before rebate; even cheaper with the rebates)
Samsung F3 1TB - $55 after promo code HARDOCP112C
HEC Blitz - $40 shipped
LG 24X DVD burner - $17 shipped

Total cost for this: $521 before rebates, $481 after rebates

If you absolutely need to be as close to $500 as possible, the x4 640 + ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO costs $165 which will put your total cost at $502 (It's not as good a board for, say, overclocking and/or CrossfireX, but I don't think that's an issue for you)

I'm just using what I've found and already suggested today all over again That ShellShocker deal looks pretty amazing though, indeed.
