There is no difference in my view, access time is the same. I own Intel 80GB, 40GB and G.Skill Phoniex 120Gb.

Well, you may not notice too much of a difference in access time in general use, but I'm sure at least write speeds would be much improved.

Looks like the price just hiked back up? Glad I grabbed it before it was gone.

The numbers are higher with Sandforce drives but at the same time you do not want to constantly write stuff to your SSD.

Touche. True, indeed. But it is still better overall in terms of pure performance.

Indeed.

Intel SSDs have fantastic real-world performance as operating system drives. They have extraordinarily low access times (important) and great read speeds.

Unless you're running write-intensive tasks on the drive, you won't really notice the difference between them and Sandforce drives IMO.

I ran an 80GB solo and two in a raid 0. They were lightning fast My aspire timeline is rockin' one now.

Yeah the Amazon description isn't very detailed, so I don't know whether it's a G1 or G2. *crosses fingers* Does TRIM support really make a big difference?

+1

but with new Curcial/Micron SSD coming out, new Sandforce controller, and new Intel controller, the G2s will see s price drop within a months or two I guess.
