My old computer just died on me. The motherboard decided to kill its SATA controller and just.. not make any SATA ports usable so I need a new comp

What I need...
CPU / Motherboard / Ram / possibly cooler

What I do...
Regular Gaming / Video Rendering / Lots of Transcoding / Music Production

My budget...
$500 - $800 Canadian (I live in Canada)

So what processor do I get? 2600K or i7-950

I will add more details...

2600k as in more future proofing.
Not sure prices for local hardware store stores in Canada but 2600k should be around in price to the 950.

I would say so, as for Future-proofing, that depends if you are in the mainstream or enthusiast market
