How do you RAID 0 two drives you aren't booting from?

Is it even recommended to do this? I just got a 2TB drive for movies and TV shows and it's already almost full so I'm going to have to get another 2TB drive as well. Rather than having one for movies and one for TV shows, just wondering if I can make them show up as one drive at 4TB.

If you already have data on your current disk, which you already do, you can use disk management to use the new disk to "span" to.(JBOD) Just go into disk management and "Extend" the current one and "Extend" it to the newly formatted drive. (I am not looking directly at management so sorry if I am not using the proper terms.)

Not a problem man. Did it go smoothly? You can even use the "Shrink" function and create new partitions off of your JBOD array within Windows.

Well I don't have the new drive yet, so I haven't tried it. But it's good info for when the new drive gets here.

Don't JBOD. You are just getting the same data failure rate of RAID0 without the speed boost. Just keep them separate imho.

What data failure rate? I've had my RAID0 Windows partition for quite some time now with no issues...

Huh? Really? You do realize that they are two different things right? And RAID0 failure rate is highly over preached. Up until my SSD purchase it was RAID 0 on all my rigs over the past ~5 years or so without a single array failing. The last array of .11s was almost 2 years in on the same install of Windows without a single hiccup. I realize that it can and will happen, but I have had more bad SINGLE drives over the years than raided drives go bad.

If a drive in JBOD fails you only lose what was on that drive as appose to a RAID 0 setup in which you typically lose it all.

I've had similar good experiences. I've ran this RAID0 setup 24/7/365 with very few reboots, shut offs, etc (only like when I go on vacation) with ZERO issues.

Yeah the horror RAID 0 stories rarely come from people running 2 identical drives but more from guys running 4+ drives.
