Crysis Warhead Woes

Okay, first, is specs of my computer.

Graphics: 2 GTX 285's SLI
Processor: AMD Athlon II x3 440 3.0 OC'ed @ 3.5
Memory: 6 gigs
HDD: 1TB
MoBo: MSI K9N nForce 570... it's pretty bleh, intend on upgrading.
Monitor: 20" Widescreen at 1680x1050
3dMark Vantage Score : 17340, 15k in graphics and 24-25 in CPU

Average FPS in Crysis :Warhead on Full settings 20-25 fps.

BUT WHY!?

You would figure that with at least a decent rig like mine, I'd be able to give Crysis a run for its money and its been bugging me that its not. I realize that it's poorly optimized and all that jazz but i've heard so many stories of SLI 8800GTX's running it at full settings. This preturbs me.

Anyone know why I could be having so much trouble? It's really annoying me.

Umm, Crysis was poorly optimized, not Warhead.

As for your FPS, I'm pretty sure this game only uses 2 cores (could be wrong, if it uses 4 then your processor is holding you back.

OC your processor more?

I absolutely would OC my processor more if I could, but my POS motherboard has no option to unlock the multiplier so I'm stuck at 15x334 at stock voltage.

I would assume that it runs on 2, but I'm not sure.

I just can't figure out what the freaking problem is.

If only I could just TRY a quad core and see if my performance boosts as much as I'd hope.

If i remembered how many cores it ran on, I'd let you know if a quad would help, but I'm not sure to be honest.

I can't imagine what else could be bottlenecking my performance.

correction to my last post

15x234* not 334* that'd be insane.

its uses all 4 cores. If I recall I averaged 56 fps(ish?, might have been higher/lower) in the warhead benchmark. With 8800GT in SLI i averaged 40 something.

I can play 1680*1050 enthusiast and not have any lag using the rig listed below

Do you have the best drivers for your graphics card? Or the latest ones? Latest Directx installed?

You could just get a better CPU, unless you mean getting the newer/latest CPU's/Motherboard's.

striving for a high crysis FPS is useless... because no matter waht hardware you use today, the highest you will get is like 40FPS MAX, because the fking engine is a greedy lil muderfker... i stop trying after i beat the game, as long as you can play it out comfortably at MAX, who cares about ur FPS on crysis... even in the future, 4 years from now with GTX 680s crysis is so inefficient, that it wouunt even utilize the full potential of many systems, because remember... the game was written when dual core processors were new to the consumer market..

i recommend trying to max out Metro 2033 or crysis 2 when it comes out... but i have a fealling crysis 2 will be able to be maxed out on an i3 with a 5770, because well... its was supposed to have a more optimized game engine,
