OC wont boot

Thread Starter
hi, i have a problem, if you look at the first pic i have a oc setup that will work 95%of the time after i set it up, save and boot directly from bios, but if i power off my system and then start it again it wont boot, i dont even come to bios. and in the second pic you can see a setup that wont boot in any way, so i think the ram is the problem, any thougts?. its a phII x4 955 3,2 oc to 3,6 with this setup. and the ram is 4x2gb kinston 1333mhz. maybe hard to se but the cpu voltage is 1.425. thanks

might be pretty obvious, but you might want to try upping the cpu v and the nb v.... your bios wont post because it doesnt like the numbers <_< its all about experimenting

More voltage.

I need 1.55v for 3.7ghz on a 955.

All you need to do is raise the multiplier really, thats all I did .

hmm, the bios recovery system tells me if its to low volt that is the fail. but now its just stands "overclocking faild" if i have to little it also stands "overvoltage faild"

i cant go for higher multiple then 16, its not a BE ;(

They only made a 955 in BE...

So it's either a BE or not a 955

Try a BIOS update.
Your board may not even support the unlocked multiplier.

Actually what with the 3+1 phase on that motherboard you shouldn't be even attempting to run the 125W 955 at all. I'm actually suggesting you underclock and undervolt rigorously here, 125W + weak power phase + no mosfet cooling + tower cooler = death sentence. I've heard countless reports of 125W processors + weak mosfet boards frying up and catching fire and I don't want another case of this. No 3+1 phase should ever be running a 125W processor, in fact most are only rated for 125W by many motherboard brands including ASUS on other boards.

Indeed seems to be an odd find there....one thing is reset your cmos and try again, update your bios and try again. With a non be You may need faster memory to get more headroom for the overclock or to drop the speed so you can bring it up when you overclock, sorry not familiar with newer non be amd's, also what psu do you have? 500 should be ok but if its not a good quality one...it could cause some issues when overclocking etc.

Looked back above....you may well want to get a better board, one that can better run your processor, they can be had for good prices and until then should probably leave the overclock off since damage to the board can damage your whole rig or worse :/
