G Skill 8GB memory

Hi,

I just received my kit of F3-16000CL9D-8GBRM G Skill 8GB memory.

It's rated at 2000mhz but i lowered it to 1600 with these timings 8-8-8-24

Based on this review
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...-review-6.html

He had them at 7-8-7-30 still at around 1680MHZ

My question sound silly but which would be faster? 8-8-8-24 or 7-8-7-30?

And since im at 1600 and not 1680 like him, does it make a difference in the timings?

You could probably manage 7-8-7-24 since you're already down to 8-8-8-24. You might even be able to manage 6-8-6-24 (PSC ICs usually like the middle value [tRCD] kept higher, but can and will go lower on the other values). You may need to add voltage; due to PSC IC longetivity, set your absolute voltage limit at 1.7-1.75V and use only as much voltage as you need.

I bought a new CPU. Phenom II 1090t BE....

I was wondering now if I should try my memory at 2000mhz? Or keep it at 1600? The best timing I was able to achieve was 7-8-7-24 trc30 with 1.75v at 1600. I know AMD likes tighter timings so you think I should stay where I am or go for 2000 and set NB to 3000?

Go ahead if you want, but 2000 9-10-9 will gain no benefits over 1600 7-8-7. Might not even make a difference actually. Definitely see if your NB OCs to 3000Mhz though. Even small NB speed bumps make worlds of a difference.

yup NB is currently at 3000mhz. I left the RAM at 1600 for now... still reading stuff here and there and apparently there's not much a of difference if i set it to 2000, not in real world application that is. I might only see an increase when doing benchmarks but i rlly don't care about that.

Im just happy that with my new CPU i got to hit 4GHZ and my temps get only at 30C under load and 18-20idle...

Only when you get 2000Mhz at CL8/tRCD 8 or below latencies or below does it start to really edge out, but for the most time still not really; I've had MaxxMem results with my 1600 6-8-6 RAM equal or edge out 2000 6-9-6 RAM before (though there were other subtle differences, i.e. small NB clock difference and the likes)
