Been searching for a mouse pad for RAT 9!!! :(

Hi guys

This is my 1st post..

im a member of several other forums but this is the only one i found w/ an actual RAT CLub...w/c i thought would be cool to join and GET HELP FROM..so i signed up..

my biggest pain really is the PTE Sensor w/c has incompatibility issues w/ lots of pads frown.gif

I loved the Razer ExactMat w/ rest and been using it for years.. i actually bought 2 extra exactMats for backup. that's how much i loved the exactmat.. but the RAT 9 barely moves on it!

So the search began.. my specifications are

THE BEST almost ZERO friction glide!
hard type if possible, and medium size..

I've tried lots of mats... even the Lian-Li aluminum pad.. w/c sometimes the RAT 9 worked on it, and sometimes it wont/barely moves...

So far the one that worked 90% of the time is the Razer Sphex .. but i'm still annoyed by the 10% of the time where RAT 9 loses tracking... issues;

1) moves accross the screen at a shorter distance than normal
2) sometimes it fails to track Vertical or Horizontal axis , like the mouse X or Y axis is broken
3) sometimes it barelymoves

Which i find strange.. if the RAT 9 had worked perfectly on the Sphex at least MOST of the time, why are there times it doesnt? .. im fearing erratic hardware problem here frown.gif .. could it be?

For now I'm really needing a mousepad that will work flawlessly!!

Now being in the Philippines, I had to order this baby from Overseas and I'm the first to ever use it in my country.. there's no local distribution here.. i've pretty much tried all "high quality" mouse pads available in the country and still cant find THE ONE... so decided to go and order a mousepad from overseas.. but the cost and time to wait will be bad, so i need to get it right the first time..

So, soliciting kindness from this forum, can you guys give any suggestions? preferrably ones available @ amazon?

PS
There should be a MOUSE PAD COMPATIBILITY LIST for RAT 7/9!!! frown.gif

Regards

I would suggest posting in the club thread for better results. Sadly, I don't know much about mousepads as I'm' good with a regular one. I do use a steelseries xai.

Welcome to OCN.

I have a RAT7. It doesn't work with an Icemat or my old Func Industries black mouse pad. I have been using it on my bare desk at home with no problems.

I'm looking at getting another mouse for work, and contacted MadCatz Tech Support last week to see if they could provide a list of compatible mouse pads or in the very least confirm that the RAT 7 is compatible with their "Cyborg" mouse pads. If I ever hear anything from tech support I'll post an update.

thanks much for th feedback specially w/ the icemat confirmation..i was gona get an icemat..

anyway try getting a razer sphex, it's the only pad i've tried that seem to have the LEAST problem.. i had a special Sphex edition w/ was white base color and black strokes on it (artistic lines and a picture of a guy), i'd say it made the RAT act funny 15% of the time.. w/ this plain black sphex, i rarely get problems w/.. after 2 weeks of heavy use i no longer get the "slow mouse movement" traction problem (where i could glide the mouse across the mouse pad and the pointer would actually move like 3 inches on my 22" screen).. the problem i get is where the mouse lose either horizontal or vertical tracking.. all i do i sturn the mouse off and on... or unplug / replug the cable and it's back to norm.. i dunno if this is pad issue or my RAT's hw problem frown.gif

My Razer Scarab arrived this morning. The RAT9 now works perfectly, even had to reduce the DPI as it tracks so well. I used an Icemat previously and had tracking problems plus the thing would take an age to wake up.

awesome thanks for the feedback! smile.gif
so far the black version Sphex also works .. the tracking issue i reported w/ it, where the horizontal or vertical tracking isnt coz of the mouse pad , i think it's the sensor going haywire from time to time .. i have to unplug replug the darn thing.. doesnt this happen to you guys? if it's hardware thing as long as it doesnt happen everyrday i dont mind replugging the device to fix it done deal w/ waitng for RMA hehe
