AMD Phenom 555 BE (unlocked) on MSI 870A-G54 (AMD 870)

Thread Starter
Hey guys! Noob here :-)

Current spec:

CPU: AMD Phenom II 555 BE (unlocked to 4 cores) @ 3.8GHz
CPU Multiplier @ 19 x FSB: 200
HT Link @ 2000Mhz
CPU-NB @ 2000Mhz
Mobo: MSI 870A-G54 AMD 870 (Socket AM3)
RAM: 8GB OCZ (4x2GB) 1333MHz DDR3 @ 9-9-9-20

All voltages on auto

Does this look good? Any way of getting some more juice out of this setup?

Any help would be really really appreciated :-)

Please post your rig's specs so we can help you better.

With all voltages on stock I'd have to ask if you've tested for stability with prime95? If so, yes the info you listed would be a real good start, but I have to wonder if there's enough Vcore for an unlocked x2. They usually require more Vcore when unlocked.

There is room to improve the OC, by raising the NB Freq would add a lot of performance just for starters.

If you haven't seen this thread, it does contain a lot of very useful information as your starting out http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ing-guide.html

Actually I was meaning here http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem lol. Fill out your complete rig specs so it shows on each post you make. That was all.
You haven't answered if you've stress tested with prime95 with those settings. Is it stable?

If so, are you asking for "what to do to improve"? I'll a little confused I guess lol.

Hi there and welcome to OCN!

Well rather than give you a ton of advice right off the start, please read my Overclock Guide for new AMD overclockers. I just posted the 2nd revision today and it should have all the information you need to get started including an overview of how computer components work with each other, how to eliminate bottlenecks, and how to maximize your overclock potential. It is a relatively quick read compared to other guides, check it out. Hope it helps wink.gif

I recommend you re-lock your CPU right away. That MSI board with the unheatsinked 4+1 is in no ways capable of handling a 125W quad core (or unlocked Ph. II x2). ESPECIALLY overclocked, and ESPECIALLY with any tower cooler that prevents air getting to the mosfets. I won't be surprised when you come back a few weeks later and telling us about smelling smoke inside your case during a stability test.

Also, is that OCZ garbage - ABANDON SHIP. I will not simply allow you to come on here and run the most trash-worthy memory on earth! 1333 9-9-9-20 at a massive 1.65V is inexcusable. You should get a replacement right away if possible. Chances are you probably also overpaid a lot for that memory.

At load my temps aren't going much above 50. I have my ram at 9-8-8-18 (1.5 volts)
