Hey OCN-

I neep help once again

I've got a project nearing completion (link here-http://www.overclock.net/case-mod-work-logs/888554-madkat-games-rc1-gt5-machine.html ) but I need a usb switch/splitter (not sure which) so I can hook up a Logitech G27 wheel to a ps3 and pc simultaniouslywithout having to unplug the wheel from either the ps3/pc and plug into the other when switching systems.

Can someone reccomend a product like this for me and perhaps a link to said item? I'm having a hard time locating one since I dont know exactly what it is I am looking for

Heh- thanks guys! you rock as always and I will be apprieciative

That lets you connect USB devices (like a keyboard and mouse) to 2 PCs, and use a switch to choose between which PC you want to control. I don't see why it wouldn't work for your intentions with a PS3 and PC, you're still connecting 2 USBs to 2 separate devices, and then a single USB controller (wheel) acting as a keyboard/mouse.

Actually, I just want to hook up one usb device (G27) to two separate devices (pc/ps3)

Is a simplier version of this without the monitor switch?

I am going to using the monitors hdmi input with an auto switching hdmi device that will display which-ever device that has been turned on last, so I dont need the dsub(vga) connetor that the device in the link you gave has.

I just need a adaptor to make a single G27 plugged into two usb ports at the same time. Your help is apprieciated- +rep to you sir

I would think of a simple y adaptor with a female usb on the single side and 2 male usb plugs on the double end, but not sure if this is ok because usb supplies power back to the device also ... I dont think I need the powered part of the usb port, since the G27 comes with its own power cord

Help please!

Yea I typo'd up there, I meant 1 USB device to 2 PCs. I'm pretty sure the KVM switch would do the job. I'd suggest you get one locally and ask if you can return it if it doesn't do what you need it to. I had one of these once to use my Xbox controller with my PC and my Xbox and it worked fine, so I'd assume it should work no different for a wheel. You also need to test and see if it screws with the wheel's calibration because it may, and there might not be any way around that.

If anything, you should also be able to make one yourself since you're pretty knowledgeable on splicing. I've spliced up some odd USB combinations myself. I'd imagine you can just solder a switch just before the split that can let you choose which split takes control.

Just found this as well! I can't tell what interfaces it has, but it does say it works with steering wheels. If anything, you can get some gameport to USB adapters if it uses gameport plugs. If you click where it says "3 new from $14.95" you can grab one for $20 shipped.

Edit: Arghhh so close... I think this is actually to hook up different kinds of controllers to one system and have a switch to choose between them.
