I just spoke with a Blizzard official, and the issue is being worked on. Because of the sensitive nature of what's going on, I'm going to wait until the dust has settled to comment further.

I'd bet my money on it that Valve wouldn't be too happy with that. I'm sure that if this modder changed the name of his mod and made it a little less similar to WoW then Blizzard would be fine with it.
Oh... kind of like Black Mesa Source? Valve doesn't have a problem with that mod; they even have a Steam forum section solely for that mod. BMS is absolutely identical to HL1, it's literally a perfect reskin + Source engine.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Black Mesa is just HL1 on the source engine. They're only upgrading the graphics, not making an entirely new game.

... Just as Ryan is modding Starcraft 2; except not even upgrading its graphics, just changing the camera perspective and adding elements from another game (just as Black Mesa is doing from HL1)

I don't even want to respond to this how I want to as it would go quite political, but I'll give an example of what I'd like to say.

I just recently lost a 13 year old cousin in a horrific car accident. His older brother, 18, was driving and they got into an accident where he was trapped in the back seat with a friend with the car ablaze; both in the back seat dying instantly. The older brother flew out the windshield and survived but was in a coma for a month. Police on scene asserted the older brother would be incriminated and surely imprisoned for manslaughter, regardless of the accident being an accident and their friend's family not pressing charges. If something like this goes unforgiven, of course, how could we even expect something like the title for a video game to go forgiven?

Okay, so he should rename his mod sphere of celestial sphere blimp?

You don't get it or you're trolling. Black Mesa IS HL1. The only difference is that its on the source engine. World of Starcraft is a brand new game but the problem is that they're using a copy righted name (Starcraft) and basically copying WoW. Valve actually had a problem with the name Black Mesa Source so the modders had to change the name to Black Mesa. Its the same concept here. A lot of people are going to play World of Starcraft and think that it was made by Blizzard when in fact Blizzard had nothing to do with the game. If the game turns out to be crap then it gives Blizzard a bad reputation.

Got it, wasn't aware that Black Mesa Source was changed to Black Mesa because of Valve demanding it; that changes the scenario. Maybe the mod should use the name of one of the major Starcraft planets, then. (World of Aiur)

Quote:
Mid 2005: In order to avoid confusion of official Valve games and non Valve games, Valve contacted the mod team and requested "Source" be removed from the Mod's official name. Because of the fan base recognition, Valve does not dispute the blackmesasource.com domain for the Mod's website.
