And he still seems to have a fairly good grasp of their warranty terms, so I think he should be able to answer it.

Now if it was a question specific to motherboards, then that would be different.
Actually, his OP says this:

I will NOT answer any of the following:
  • Questions about products in development
  • Questions about product under NDA
  • Questions not related to NVIDIA graphics cards
  • Questions about what I had for dinner
  • Questions about the future

Let's see where this goes.

Edit:
Oh, and in case I don't answer immediately, it simply means I AM WORKING OR AM DOING SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE WITH MY LIFE, including (but not limited to) the following:
  • Eating
  • Sleeping
  • Snowboarding
  • Going on dates
  • Curing cancer
  • Working on my car
  • At concert(s)
  • All of the above
I think that Alex just needs to make a better thread title.

Alex where you a politician? lol

If MSI has 1GHz printed all over the packaging for my 460 Hawk, and MAX AFTERBURNER VOLTAGE CONTROLL OUT TO GET 1GHZ OVERCLOCK -

A. Im being misled to and not getting what I paid for
B. If I run my card with voltages maxed out and it burns up, im also being misled.
c. Will I recieve my money back if the card fails when overvolting as advertised and encouraged?

Withinn the warranty period of course. Which is 1 or 3 years? (both are normal manufacturer time spans I beleive)

Thanks

I heard you guys dont. Why not? If its a 3 way sli board why not include a 3 way bridge? It would be weird to buy a EVGA bridge to use on a MSI mobo...

Uh, I'm sorry, there's a thing called SLEEP at 2AM in the morning that usually partake in. Don't assume I'm up 24-7 answering your questions.

The board does not come with a 3-way bridge. Why, I have no idea...

It can be done if you request it... however most people don't want to deal with putting up collateral.

2. What was the deal with warranties before they adopted the serial# only thing? Reason i ask is because I have an old 3850, that might need to be RMA'd

3. If a motherboard came with bent pins, would MSI RMA it? My friend recently was denied for RMA by newegg, due to bent pins that they say he caused, even though he didn't.

4. What were/are you qualifications for you job? What does it take to do what you do?

5. Does MSI ever sponsor people personally? I know they do MOA, but do they pay anyone/supply anyone gear to OC/break WRs with outside of MOA?

Thanks
1) as long as serial # and any "warranty void" stickers are intact, everything else is irrelevant...
2) Before Jan 1 2010 it is 2 years + 1 year parts. Proof of purchase matching serial # is needed.
3) Call us... but frankly if it's a new board, bent pins out of the box is hard to prove either way.
4) What does it take? One million dollars................
All jokes aside, anyone can do my job. There's no special skillset when it comes to virtually ANY job, you just have to know how to stand out when it comes to marketing. Anyone that meets basic qualifications can do a job... but to do it well is entirely different. Personality, work ethics, etc all play a role.
5) Usually not... but there are exceptions.

1) No idea. Hawk was never introduced on the "#2 card" for each respective lineup and those plans aren't changing anytime soon.
2) As with any RMA questions: call us to figure it out. You can RMA ANYTHING YOU WANT but if there's no problem we can replicate/verify in house, it's simply denied and returned.

I have a 460 Hawk sitting in front of me and it says "*Actual results may be different from the result shown above". Granted, I know people don't read the fine print and I know the chart could have been drawn better, but as with any type of overclocking, it is never guaranteed.

If you are in another country you should contact your local MSI office for support and resolution. Warranty is 3 years in North America, but varies in other regions.

I have a question for you alex, I was wondering something about the voltages on my gtx 580. In afterburner, you guys set the max voltage you can use to 1.138v, does that mean that is the maximum safe volts you can use for 24/7 operation? Or is that just the range you guys give us for all overclocking in general?

Basically, I've been running my gtx 580 for a bit of time now at different overclocks, and now that i'm on water, I thought it would be pretty cool to run it at its maximum for 24/7, but I don't want my card to die on me anytime soon.

What would you recommend?

@MSI Alex -

First let me apologize for not sticking to your request about MSI/Nvidia only questions, however, I'm hoping you can give me some insight.

Where can I get a better battery for an MSI laptop that my Uncle uses? His will only last about three hours or less and just barely over three hours even in ECO mode. I know there are tweaks that can be made via Windows 7 to minimize the power requirements, but that's a bit technical for him and I'm out of state from him (and even using TeamViewer/VPN still would take me a while because of reboots).

Thanks, and if you can't point me in the right direction, I understand!
