Cant get into the BIOS. Help

I have a asus P5N-MX mainboard in my kids desktop, and the CPU fan is running at full speed, all the time, making lots of noise. The BIOS has a setting to turn on a fan speed tool (Q-logic?) that only increases speed when hot.

Let me back up a bit- the battery on the main board died- no biggie, dont use this PC much, then i noticed i couldnt get into the BIOS some time later. dont know if this is related, but i would think not.

changed battery, same problem

So i tried flashing and updating the BIOS (there was a newer version) and flashed it several times, but nothing works- when i press "delete" when in POST, it will only proceed to a blank screen?

any ideas?

also, i tried clearing CMOS

it will boot into windows and function normally for the most part, but why wont it show me any graphics, just a blank screen, when trying to enter BIOS setup menu???

It is most probable that your BIOS Gui has been corrupt.
The only thing i can think of you can try, is unplugging your computer and the power supply and leave it without anything plugged in for 10 mins. Hit the power button a few times to drain all power from the board and then try again.

Hope this helped, GL

thanks. that didnt do the trick. Why did i lose my bios settings in the first palce.....does the battery on the main board have an effect on these?

Is it safe to assume the only fix is a new main board?
