DC Universe Online - Impressions?

What's up all. First off let me start by saying I'm excited to be playing DCUO right now, but it does come with a few shortcomings:

1. The game crashes too often. I thought this was a problem on my end at first, but after some research I found out that a huge group of folks had this problem. A new Nvidia driver came out Jan 18th and for me has SOMEWHAT fixed the problem. I play on all setting high now and it crashes sometimes, but I'd like it to not crash at all.

2. Costumes
a. In my opinion there is a lack in variety right now.
b. The custum creation method isn't as straight forward as it should be.
It took me about 3 alts to finally really understand what they were aiming
for. Most people like me are excited to play and not have to worry much
about how to get the costume like I want. Color palette usage kind of
hinders the customization experience.

3. Power pools are VERY slim right now in my opinion. I hate to compare DCUO
to other games, but I'm going to do it. City of heroes had a plethora of
power pools on launch and wasn't limited to the only 2 tank pools, two
control pools, and 2 healing pools. In due time I assume they will expand...
Or not. I play for PC., but what about those PS3 players? Will they get
free DLC?

4. Keyboard control are a bit janky. but all that is fixed if you get a controller
like me. Now playing this game on PC is less broken. I feel that this game
was built for the PS3 first and then PC second.

5. Travel powers are far and JUST a few. Super Speed, Acrobatics, and flight.
No teleport, super jumps, jet packs, etc. teleport is always exploited so I
may probably understand that.

6. lvl 1 - 30 is far from a grind. So that can be good and bad depending on
your preference.

Now for the good.

1. I like the fight mechanics because I love hack and slash games. I love my
Devil may cry, Ninja Gaiden type games and this bring a new dimension
to those games for me. Melee and specialized powers. I feel like a beast
swinging my hammer and engulfing foes in flames. Some people feel the
fights are clunky. I think they might need a new video card lol.

2. The environments look nice.

3. I love the music.

4. Fighting under one of three popular Heroes/Villains mentor-ship is great.
I of course chose batman at first and fighting in Gotham under the veil of
darkness is fun. They got the moods right in each city I believe.

5. Missions aren't anything new, but the end of mission chain instances are
fun. Taking down scarecrow and then Bane with some friends was easy,
but fun.

6. The Alerts instances are fun to and there are plenty of decent loots to be
had.

7. You can actually change your costume free of charge (game money or
real money) depending and mob costume drops though.

8. The storylines are great and unfold nicely. Being apart of epic sagas known
to the comic world is a nice feeling.

Overall the game is decent. I give it like a 7 or 7.5. I wish they had a system where you can create gear out of mob loots. That would be cool. And I haven't reached end game, so I can't comment on whether there is suitable end game material. In due time if the devs are really serious about the longevity in this game they will make the proper expansions and rule in the super hero/comic MMORPG genre. But there are enough shortfalls to make some folks go away and probably wont even be able to keep them in.

So what are your takes on it?
