How is it even "tamper proof" if every hardware store carries the correct screwdriver? Oh, it's "tamper proof" for the three months until the boatload of screwdrivers arrives from China...

It has five lobes, rather than the six Torx has. It's like the garbage equipment that manufacturers put out that have all kinds of oddball screws, none of which work to keep anyone out for more than a minute.

it's like a version change. New ones from now on out will come with these screws. Nothing unethical about that. Macbooks screws changed screws with a revision change.
yes when sent in for repairs they are replacing the screws with the tamper proof screws.

doesnt say that in the article. Its just that new phones are now showing up with the new screws.

I worked at an AASP. We were not given tamper proof screws to replace the screws in customer's macbooks. Stop spreading BS. As i stated in my previous post, only new phones from here on out will be fitted with new screws.

off topic, but there is actually a distinction between regular torx and "tamper/security torx".
