Monitor setup advice

Heres the situation:

I currently own a 24" TN LCD monitor, I was wondering for my new build if I should get 3 Dell U2311H's in portrait for eyefinity and have the 24" LCD for other uses or should I just get 2 Dell U2311H's and have them in portrait next to the 24" monitor for multitasking purposes.

Essentially I am wondering if its worth the extra bit of money to go for eyefinity, or is a 24" good enough for gaming. Also if I went with the second route, would the colours be totally off and be extremely annoying since it will be TN/IPS? I also have a bit of OCD and not sure if I could handle the different bezels/stands.

If anyone has thoughts on this, I would love to hear them.

AHHHHhhh i cannot stand having different brand monitors or different sizes unless there are three with one big one in the center, it has to be symmetrical.. and they have to be the same brand.. i think i have flipped out on ppl because they have one 20'' and 19'' by two different companies and one is 1080p and the other is not... different height, different bezels different picture quality different everything

shrug just my opinion but hey, you asked

lol, thanks for the opinion! Yeah, I am OCD as well and personally I think you're right. The colour distortion, size, bezels and stands would probably bother me too much.

edit: also yes, about the texas thing. plus your location says U of Texas. So... yep haha.

your eyefinity rig needs to be 3 of the same monitor, preferably with the smallest bezel you can find. i've played on some friends rigs and it's definitely nice. i stopped playing so i wouldn't get spoiled. as soon as i get the money i'm going to convert to an eyefinity rig and keep my 27 and use it for movies and web research.

tl;dr

get the 3 dells and use your 24 on the side

Money isn't a huge issue, obviously if I could spend less I would. I am just curious what people's opinions are on eyefinity and if it can justify the cost. Or is a 24" decent enough.

Thanks for the input, definitely more thinking to do.

How about you get 2 more of whatever kind of 24" TN you have. Then buy a 30" ips with all the monies you saved, then use that "on the side". IMO this would be more ideal than 3 smaller ips panels and 1 TN. You will have your eyefinity setup + huge viewing panel for w/e else you have going on. Beacuse it will eat up so much desk space, I would almost recommend 2 keyboards. 1 infront of your eyefinity, and another infront of the 30". They can both be plugged in and used simultaneously.

I had contemplated several times about getting a single larger high res monitor, but honestly I just cant justify it. If I was going to have eyefinity and have a second monitor it would be the 3x23" + 1x24" and each would have their own keyboard/mouse. Thanks for the suggestion though.
