Anyone own this 5870?

Thread Starter
This is the one in question:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo

Mixed reviews.. quite a few "grey screen of death's" with this card. For $200, it's not a bad deal, and was thinking of swapping this out for my 460.

Not sure of the 3D Mark11 scores of a 5870 like this, but I've seen a few around 4800/4900 points. I'm currently @ 4185 with my OC'd 460.

Not sure if I should game on something like this or not..

Where are you getting $200?

I keep getting sent to a Sapphire 5870 Thats $239 after MIR.

If it is the sapphire, its a good card, but I would get a 6870 or a 6950. The 5870 is getting kind of out dated even though it's still a beast of a card.

Otherwise, I'd say the 5870 is a great upgrade and will be much more powerful than a GTX460.

Edit: Ok, I see now how your getting $200...at that price I would get it. Sapphire is a great company.

There's a $60 off promo code + $30 MIR = $199.99

I've had good experiences with Sapphire cards. For 200 bucks, it's a good deal.

It's 259.99 after MIR, $60 off w/ promo code. (green text right of card picture)

@ OP - The 5870 is a very good card, and it would be a decent increase from your GTX 460.

The others were getting GSOD's from ATI's drivers. If you download the newest drivers properly, you shouldn't have this problem.

Recommend the upgrade at that price!

Get it, just make sure the drivers are installed correctly. Should have no problems

Just an FYI this model is locked at 900/1300 and can't go higher (unless you maybe flash the BIOS). No voltage regulation and no heatsinks on the memory either. Not exactly the best 5870, but decent for the price.

I have this card by the way.

Uh price performance I hate to say this but the 460 trumps the 5870's from what I have heard. You put those 460's in SLI then you have something more powerful than a 5970.
