Recover data from USB stick showing as RAW?

Thread Starter
This USB drive has some important work on and today has decided to play up. Inserting it gives the response "you need to format this disk before you can use it" and when trying to select it the error is "H:\ is not accessible. The volume does not contain a recognised file system". The file system is displayed as RAW.

It appears the drivers installed without hitch when I first ever connected it (not my USB stick). Is there anyway to recover any files?
