I5 2500K & Prolima megahalems High temp??

Thread Starter
Hello im new at the forums, im from belgium where all the nice choclate is made!

I assembled a new system with I5 2500K (megahalems), Asus P8P67 Deluxe, 8GB kingston 1333 ram.

I am having some problems currently I am running on stock clock (all settings are set to auto in default, im not really good with OCing but I want to try and learn things)

idle core temps are 34/35° and load goes up to 53°/54° on the cores, I think its a little bit hot no for this chip? (Used realtemp and also coretemp both had same readings).

I have read that I should mannualy set QPI/DRAM Voltage because that can make temps go weird or something?

I have been looking in the bios (EFI) but can't really find anything called QPI/DRAM voltages, there is only DRAM Voltage is that what I should be setting? Well if anyone could guide me to what settings I should be using for stock clock like that QPI/Dram for example.

I hope someone can help me setup my bios settings.

In meanwhile I will also reseat my heatsink see if that helps

Thanks

Those are actually good temps IMHO. If you were running a 125W AMD CPU those would not be good temps.

Have to know im using Antec SOLO aswell wich isnt the best for cooling, maybi I should upgrade to the bigger brother P183.

I'm using TRUE with one fan pushing. All case fans on low and back exhaust dying. I got similar temp idle 33c load around 55c, ambient temp 24.7c. I think your temp is good. What's your ambient temp?

What thermal compound are you using? Thermal compounds need sometime to get it to work the best, such as AS5 needs 50 to 200 hours. I would say it's a bit high with ambient around 20c on stock speed.

BTW the DRAM Voltage in the UEFI is the one to change ram voltage.

same here, megas should be real close to H50s as he said. those arent bad temps though, if you're going to OC might want to tinker with it to get the temps down (at 4.0ghz i load 56C).
