Does this sound right? 2x GTX460s > 3x 5770s?

Thread Starter
Just been playing around with this new system build, and I decided to try out 3x 5770s in CF to see how it stacks up against my 2x 460s...

I have read reviews where it starts to bottleneck the OCed i7s, so I presumed that it would be obvious that it would outperform or at least match the performance from the GTX460s...

TBH, there aren't a whole lot of reviews on 3x CFs on these 5770s except for one, so I was just curious to see how it would do.

I am not really a bencher, but I know enough about games and FPS to know that FarCry2 seems to be most "neutral" in terms of measuring performance differences between the NVIDIA and ATI... I could be wrong on this, but that's what I decided to use.

The ATI driver version is the latest one, and the NVIDIA is the latest as well...

With 2x GTX460s, my min FPS was 95.48 and max was 195.92, with all settings on MAX and ULTRA with 8x AA, with resolution of 1920x1080.

With 3x 5770s, my min 78.04, max 172.87, with all same settings as above.

What do you guys think? Should I be getting more than the 460s or about the same, or is this perfectly normal?

I have no experience with either, but benchmark wise the 460's would be a better performer than the trifire 5770s. I assume the same would be in gaming.

I know this isnt a perfect comparison, but you can see some benchmarks from multiple test and people.

I forgot to mention how I came to my assumption...(I am no expert)

The GTX 460 is a 192-256bit GDDR5 1Gb card
The 5770 is a 128bit GDDR5 1Gb card

More memory doesnt alway mean better when you compare a faster bitrate and the same memory speed. I am sure there are other variables that can play a factor.
