It's also important to note that when you're buying a prebuild from such places that let you customize your own specifications and whatnot, they tend to choose cheaper PSU's, motherboards, RAM and generally everything that should be branded isn't. You save money building your own and paying decent prices for branded parts that you know are going to work, and even if they don't you can return them on warranty.

It's truly not that hard. Just plug everything in and turn it on. If you've already swapped stuff out, then you have the bulk of the knowledge right there.

You had asked what to do with old computers, well my wife teaches so I clean up our old computers and donate them, school usually give's me a $50 - $100 donation tag for taxes. I tell everyone I know to give me their old computer for this reason. TBH I could care less about getting anything for the donation with the state of the computers in my wife's district. Ladies and Gents these computers still 5 inch floppy readers if you get my gist. Food for thought.

That is actually a nice idea. Some of the computers I see in the schools here are atrocious as well. But anyhow, if anyone has an out of date gaming rig that was built 2005 or after, I would be interested in seeing what it costs.
