I'm not sacrificing battery life, I'm getting better battery life. Not even kidding.

you know apple changed the way they test their batteries and it is more realistic than the other companies

and yes the mac costs more but you also get the ilife suite of software that is very very nice, top of the line build quality, and fantastic customer support

The Mac is probably going to be a much better choice for her... she would never notice the actual difference in performance with the better hardware on the PC, and it's just harder to gunk up OS X like she will do to the PC within a few months. After a year, the mac will be running her programs much faster then the PC will be.

I didn't know that Apple had accurate battery life testing, but it doesn't matter as I've done battery life testing myself. These laptops will do at least 9 hours. I have the little brother to the Acer I used in this thread and it has the same hardware except a smaller screen.

Offer to make the mac dual boot if she'll sleep with you, and it's win-win.

Once some people get the mac bug they get it for life. You want one, you buy one, you never let go.... They get into your head and twist your emotions and mind into loving them dearly and shelling out the cash for em even when you know they are not worth it.... But are they? To some users yes... they absolutely are. I know handfuls of people who buy macs over pc's just because they are macs. Our schools spend roughly 1.5 times the money they could be spending on pc's on their macs and the teachers and kiddos love em. I know people who legitimately cannot function or be as productive on a PC as they can on a mac... so honestly if she wants one let her get it BECAUSE... Even if the PC is better and faster she will never be satisfied with it because she has convinced herself that a mac will be better.

Also, has anyone noticed how I made a Microsoft vs. Apple thread without starting a flame war?

Wait, why are you even talking to this girl? Get her in bed, and just let her do what she wants with her computer buying. That's all you need to do, my friend.

carry on.
