Like I said, depends what you use the machine for. If you just browse the web, it's a great computer (though admittedly overpriced). The CPU is definitely a bottleneck when comparing the two. I recently moved to an SSD in both my Macbook Pro and my i7 desktop which makes it even more apparent. When attempting video editing or even a large file in Photoshop, I've sat there staring at the CPU pegged out at 100% in activity monitor as I am left waiting. For my uses, I would never own it as my only computer.

yeah those have good spec's but the build quality is where the difference is going to be. plastic vs aluminum. plastic touch pad vs glass touch pad, so-so batteries and battery life vs great batteries and battery life.

for me the Mac is a great blend of build quality and preformance and if you buy them soon after they are updated (1-2 times a year unlike other laptop companies) you can get top of the line components then you have their costumer service which has gotten top marks the past several years and in my dealings with them they have been excelent, most recently my 3.5 year old power adapter stopped working and they offered to replace it for free if i had the old adapter (but i did not so i had to pay because i needed it that night at work)

I dont argue build quality. I use a year old macbook pro myself and i also do repairs on apple computers. THe three closest apple stores send all the out of warrenty apples to my store for repair. But bang for the buck, your money is with PC.

Apple laptops are on par with windows laptops at the lower price points, imo.

$1000-1500? Apple is a contender if you're looking for a mid-sized laptop.

Windows for sure, and forever

aside from being a Windows fan boy, but I do notice that Apple is just an over-advertised, that make it gain this reputation, but in actual use, ( that I am one of those who use Mac systems at work) I can really say that my PC ( sig rig) is noticeably faster than the iMac I use @ work.

here are the specs:

iMac: Core2 Duo 2.93 GH, @ 1066 FSB, with 6 MB L2 Cache.
4 GB DDR3 @ 1066, and nVidia 3XX . (maybe 310.), 24 screen. and 620 GB HDD. ( I don't know what RPM speed).

while my PC is as you read bellow, so I really noticed that my PC works and accomplishes tasks faster ( Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.)

and this was even before I overclock my PC, and don't forget that while my Processor excels that iMac in the FSB speed ( not that much), the iMac excels my PC in the memory type and bus speed, and in spite of this, my PC is still faster, and noticeably faster.

and we all can't forget that Apple don't let users overclock their computers, besides, the upgradeability is so much limited on the Mac computers.

so now it's clear enough why I like PCs more.

I agree, even though I am a girl. Its cause I sell too many Macs to college girls and they really don't care much, they just want it to work. Oh and use iPhoto and facebook.
