GPU's: EK Water Blocks EK-FC580 GTX - Acetal

I was thinking on getting a MO-RA3 9x140 to cool the whole loop,

Get a new case. HAF sucks for watercooling. You're using such epic parts that it needs a better case if only for aesthetics but when going h20 I think it's imperative.

The MO-RA3 is ugly, and I don't have much experience with it, but I suspect it would be enough.

I don't think you should go with a Mobo block either. They are the most restrictive blocks and with a 980 + 4 GPUs I really think you're better off going without the mobo block. What I'd do is get 2 D5's and hook them up to the EK pump top with serial, and use maybe 2 360s or a 480/360 in one loop with the GPUs and CPU on it.

Hello everyone,

It's been around a week of looking into the forums here and there, but I dont seem to get a clear idea of how to turn my current air system into a watercooled one, so I was hoping for any help any of you experienced watercoolers could give me, as I am getting lost...

The rig consists of:

Coolermaster HAF X
i7 980x
EVGA X58 Classified 4-Way SL
4x GTX 580 in SLI (quad SLI)
Silverstone Strider 1500

The parts I was thinking on using were:

CPU: Swiftech Apogee XT Extreme Performance
MOBO: EK Water Blocks EK-FB EVGA Classified 4-SLI - Acetal+Nickel
GPU's: EK Water Blocks EK-FC580 GTX - Acetal

I was thinking on getting a MO-RA3 9x140 to cool the whole loop, but I dont know if this would be enough considering the extreme heat that would come from OC the whole system (not to the extreme but to some extent), also do I need 1 or more pumps for this rad ? 1 or more reservoirs ? I was thinking on the Noiseblocker NB-BlackSilentPRO PK2 ( 140x140x25mm ) fans to cool the radiator.

Also what would be the best order in the loop ? I have been looking into some posts but I cant get a clear view of how to do this monster set up, it is kinda overwhelming me.

Any idea on what connections would be best to connect the SLI cards waterblocks ? any ideal tube sizing for such a gigantic heat generating loop ? and fittings ?

Thank you so much for the help guys.

You dont have to use two reservoirs for 1 loop, no matter how big your loop is. If you wanted to run two separate loops then you would have two reservoirs... If you wanted them. Reservoirs just make it easier to fill/ drain your loop. As for radiator fans i know alot of people on here use those gentle typhoon fans. What you want to look for in a radiator fan is static pressure and whats acceptable to you noise wise. Also you dont HAVE to purchase a new case. you can always have your rad's externally. I would get two 360's in a push pull configuration and go from there. Temps dont have to be 30c on every card or component lol

oh and order of your loop.. i would go pump, radiator, cpu, motherboard, radiator, gpu's, res then back to the pump. im not sure if you could get away with 1 pump or not though. you probably could but i think it would be pretty hard on the pump. your tubing sizes doesnt effect temperatures. Use whatever tubing you prefer just know that the thicker the OD of the tubing the less bend radius you will have. For coolant use distilled water with pt nuke or a silver coil...

you could get this case: http://www.overclock.net/phase-change/865212-ld-pc-v10-phase-change-watercooling.html .
talk to him if you dont want the phase change but it would be good to have it as you will want to overclock that 980x a lot, then run the GPU+MOBO blocks off a 480mm RAD in the top of the case and a 120mm at the back. or do this. get this case http://www.overclock.net/cases/869876-fs-littledevils-watercooling-pc-case-ld.html , and cool the GPUs and MOBO with 2 480mm RAD in the bottom of the case, then cool the 980x with the top 480mm RAD.

Yes, they look perfect for watercooling, I'll have a look and thanks for the info on the loop, so I guees you would take the MO-RA3 out of the picture ( I kinda was hoping to have a quiet rrom so I could stick several low speed fans to it).

Damn good question hehe, I will adapt to whaever is needed, I was hoping to get it down to around 1000 euros. I was looking for a quiet system, that is how I came into considering the big MO-RA3, but I really am new to this.

Cheers!

with the hardware you're planning, I think money is no concern for op. and if this is true, Little Devil's V8 is the best water cooling case out there. Also, again if $$$ is no concern, go w/ an EVGA SR-2 and couple of Xeons. good luck thumb.gif

you will want to get either the mcp 355 or the 35x pump. One pump can run the setup with no problem. You will want to get an aftermarket pump top for either one tho. If you feel that you must run two then put them in serial right after eachother. Mora is a cheap way to do it. I would suggest other rads. The rad you choose all depends on the speed of fan you plan to use. General rule: sr-1 series < 850rpm rx series 900-1450 rpm gtx series 1500+ You will need at least an area of 6x 120 rad to cool that setup with a high fpi rad such as the gtx series. if you want to go silent and get low fpi rads with low rpm fans then i suggest at least 8x 120 + radiator in total.

Which ones ? I will take the MO-RA out of the picture and change the case and go for a LD PC-V8 then (as long as it is kinda quiet system). That PC case looks just perfect for the job.

Also do I want the reservoir up or at the bottom of the case ? and I guess it should be mounted next to the pumps ?

Cheers for the help!
