Who wants to see the dust monster? :D (103C) - Page 9

commence puke-in-mouth

Good God, man, that is just ridiculous.

Edit: Also, to clarify some points here, I smoke and so does a friend. Neither of our computers get particularly dusty, needing a quick pass with an air compressor every 3-4 months, and a full in-depth cleaning every year or so to keep it shiny. Nothing gets dusty like that. A friend who doesn't smoke also needs cleaning at roughly the same rate. The only one who needs it more is a friend who does not smoke and happens to be the only one with his computer in a shag carpeted room, rather than wood or pseudo-wood flooring. All of our computers are on the floor. I honestly don't think my smoking causes more dust build-up, unless I happen to look down, and blow my smoke DIRECTLY into the intakes, then ash in them. Somehow. More likely I'll miss the ashtray and drop ash onto my floor, which would be bad.

Smoking will over time will insulate the components with a sticky film of resin... (yes cigarettes too). Dust becomes harder to clean off at that point, however since the avg. life of a PC component often doesn't exceed 3 years it's not anything that anyone will notice.
Go to my work shop where all of my "work" gets done and you can visibly see the smoke resin that settles on plastic and cardboard boxes and it is impossible to argue that that will not damage or contribute to dust build up on your components. You cannot simply wipe away the resin from smoke either you need a weak solvent to remove it like rubbing alcohol.

Three years!? I haven't had a component just die on me, personally, ever.
