1200-1500$ Budget, Gaming/ Day to Day laptop help

Thread Starter
I now have a budget ranging from 1200-1500 that i'd like to put towards a good gaming laptop.

Things i'm interested in..

17inch screen, (not sure if 19 is great for a laptop, i'm going to be taking this to class with me too)

Battery Life..
Manufacturer (i'm told go asus)
Dual core or quad? Heard quad kills too much battery..
Do i want 4-6 or 8 gigs of ram now days?

I'd like to stay on the lower end of my budget, but i'm willing to go higher if the price per dollar is good.

Suggestions?

*Games i play most. WoW/Starcraft, Likely Diablo 3. Also play COD.

****Also, i live in California. I'd like to avoid newegg if possible, and buy from somewhere like amazon so i can avoid the pesky taxes that could raise the cost very quickly****

I know you don't want newegg, but i would highly recommend this laptop. way below your price range and you can upgrade the ram if you want.

That laptop is a monster, it can handle most any game you throw at it on max settings.

here is a similar one for cheaper.

Hrmm.. never seen a Lenovo brand laptop before.
Anyways, those are both 15" i think i'd like to stick to 17. Also, unless i'm mistaken, the second laptop you posted only comes with integrated graphics, which i don't see meeting gaming requirements =/.

Going to keep looking, welcoming any other suggestions!

Lenovo is IBM.

woops that second one is intergrated, hold on.

here is one

The one nice thing about that laptop is that it contains both ATI and Intel HD graphics, and can be switched between on the fly, so you can choose to use intel graphics when you want to save batter, no rebooting required.

congratulations* on being ignorant, he never said he didn't want a quad core... also he said he wanted a 17" screen, and for some reason you continue to link smaller ones

"Features a 6MB L3 cache and 1.73GHz processor"

1.7ghz vs 2.53ghz. I think that the 2.5ghz is going to win, why would you want two extra cores when you have to give up almost a gigahert of speed.

Maybe you should give links and info backing up what you say instead of just jumping in the thread and posting a model number and nothing else.
