Basically I have this monitor

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236027

I know it's old and crap but I getting a better monitor down the line. It's native res is 1440x900 and I decided to try force 1680x1050 on it using CCC and it seemed to work. I tried BCBC2 and it allowed me to select 1680x1050 as it resolution, it didn't look much different from 1440x900 but I did seem to have a bigger FOV. My question is it actually running at 1680x1050...?

Its maximum resolution is 1440 x 900, so it physically can't display more than that many pixels on the screen, no matter what software settings you turn on.

1: You will not see ANY difference with your display because even forced 1680x1050 is actually running just 1440x900 physically.

You will have the same FOV at 1440x900 and 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 and 2560x1600. You might have had the illusion of a higher FOV because the HUD elements size might have changed. I haven't played BC2 enough to know whether or not the HUD size changes. But the FOV won't change.

Only a few rare games have higher FOV on higher resolutions. These are mostly on OOOOLD RTS games.

Forcing 1680x1050 will not benefit you in ANY way. It will only let you test what kind of performance you would get at that resolution. But you will still physically see 1440x900 and your FOV remains the same (Although if you want, you can change that from the configure file wink.gif )
