Take into consideration you can browse the web and play games on it and not to mention stream content from a PC. You have a little HTPC of sorts.

Yeah that 900 ppd adds up

Get the PS3 you'll get more use out of it than a regular Blu Ray player.

Are there reviews out there then? Anything empirical? The article I read was a few years ago.

If you want the best possible blu ray experience get a stand alone. If you want to have the ability to play games get a ps3.

NO regret, don't need to think twice

I think PS3 don't support Blu Ray at 24hz XD
Ew. No 1080p/24 would be a deal breaker for me there. :/

I was thinking about the same thing a long time ago... I just ended up building an HTPC since I didn't think I would ever play games there since most good games are around 60 bucks specially when they come up or 30~ after a while and still think it's too much to buy more than just 1 game.

For gaming I just play on my PC and get into the steam sales buying 10~ games. I'm just that cheap when buying video games

so maybe buy a blu ray drive for your current pc? But, if you have the cash then just go for the PS3.

The other benefits of the PS3 is it can be updated to new BR firmwares adding features and such, like 3D capability.
