OP only have good intention to warn people of the so call "6950 flash to 6970 risk free" due to dual bios. Which some have learn the hard way and had to RMA their $300 card.
I also flash my 6950 to 6970 Sapphire bios the same day I got it. Everything ran smooth as silk and all benchmark ran great except for 1. I had massive artifact on 1 test only and decided to flash the 6950 to unlock shader only. Test it again and no more artifact on any benchmark/stress test. There are also a few 6950 owner who experience the same thing...

Timings do not damage the memory, its the same as changing timings on your RAM, it either works or BSOD. You got artifacts because you have memory that is unable to handle those timings.
That is the dumbest claim, ever. Stop making up rumors.
