Bubbles in my loop - Is this a problem? [video]

I thought I'd consult all the experts here.

I recently built my loop and everytime I run my system I get a stream of bubbles forming on an uphill portion of my loop feeding from my GPU to my reservoir. It doesn't happen right away, but it starts to form after about 20 minutes of use.

Here is what my loop looks like (hard to tell from the video.)


XSPC reservoir > MCP355 > XSPC RX360 > Koolance CPU block > Koolance Mobo block > Koolance GPU block > Koolance GPU block >

The bubbles only form on the line between the second GPU block and the reservoir.
If I pinch the line, the bubbles rush to the reservoir and disappear. I open the reservoir to bleed the air out and then after another 20 minutes they form again.

I've done everything I could to bleed the system - even turning the computer upside down. Am I overreacting? Is this a function of the line going against gravity? Is this a problem? If it is, any suggestions on a remedy?

Nice rig you got there

And just give it some time, they'll go away.

EDIT: They keep coming back because there is probably air in the GPU Blocks. That or your pump is sucking in air, check to make sure that there is at least 1/2" of water above the inlet on the reservoir that feeds the pump.

Oh yea, the basics, you pump IS below your reservoir right?


EDIT EDIT: Ok wow, watched video, your pump is definitely sucking in air.

From the vid it looked like a stream of bubbles going through your loop. I would've kept it that way

The reservoir actually is the "top" to the pump. So I removed the stock top and the reservoir sits on top of it. So the basics are covered.

Are you implying that I may have an air leak somewhere? My reservoir is totally full so I think I have the basics covered. I checked all the fittings...no leaks.

It looks like an air leak, but there would have to be negative pressure in the blocks for them to suck in the air instead of push out the water. That is my theory though, I don't know how else that could happen, I don't think some isolated bubbles in those GPU blocks could supply that constant stream of air.

EDIT: I think, if there is an air leak, it could be in that section of hose connecting the blocks, if not, then it might be a problem with the O-ring that seals both halves of the blocks.

this air leak theory seems a bit off to me but i am having trouble with the fact that they only appear after about 20 mins.... hmmmm

opening the res wont change anything... its not as if the air is trapped and cant escape unless the res is open.

It may not be a leak, it may be that the heat and flow characteristics of that part of the loop is forcing dissolved air out of the coolant. The bubble stream is very neat and it's a nice vortex shape. I'd suggest there is a low pressure in that spot.
