Internets is ridiuclously slow..

Thread Starter
So basically I tried to upload a 10 second video to youtube and I came back 2 hours later and it was 70% complete with aboot 40 minutes remaining. Ran to my buddies house across the street with the clip, he uploaded in 1 minute. We have the same ISP, we both have High Speed Internet... The F? Even when I seed on uTorrent it's like 0.7 Kb/s...

Also, the max download speed I ever had was while downloading Left 4 Dead 2 at like 220 Kb/s, when my same friend, with the same router, same ISP, (yadda, yadda, yadda) downloaded it at like 1.2 Mb/s..

Again.... THE F!

UK US?

Cable DSL?
The same thing is happening here. I have Comcast's High-Speed Internet, and about 2-3 days ago they left us a voice mail saying that some work was going to be done in our area which would result in an outage sometime between 7am and 5pm. Well, they finally made it to our neighborhood today and we did indeed have an outage for a couple of hours just as promised. But ever since they reconnected us, our internet access has been noticeably slower.

Edit: Doh. I just noticed that you're in Canada. So nevermind I guess.

ADSL2+ has a 100KB a sec upload, so i suppose DSL whould have lower. 50kb a sec whould take about 3 hours for like a 500 megabyte video.

canadian DSL always uses ADSl1 i think, that's 30kb a sec.

Could you tell us the plan your on?

You know, I don't really know the plan, on my ISP's home page thing where I can change my wireless settings, etc. It says for the broadband section, 1728 Kbp/s Download and 384 up. Dunno if that helps at all.

Who is your ISP?

Do you have a cable modem? I mean, are you using the same type of cable that you'd use for cable TV? Or, are you using the phone line?

Also, has your internet speed with this particular service ever been faster?

My ISP is SaskTel, and it plugs in with a phone line jack, then an ethernet cable straight into my pc.
