New Build General Questions - Asus P8P67 Pro / 2600k

Thread Starter
Good evening -

I have a couple of silly questions that I am sure you guys can knock out

1) When I am in the BIOS and going to change the voltage - it currently says auto. I can manually type in a number.

2) How much can I trust autotune on the AI Suite?

3) If I OC through the suite - is it the exact same as if I went into the BIOS and did it manually? The reason I ask is because under AI Suite, I set the voltage to 1.25 and CPUz notes the voltage at 1.328.

4) Which vcore can I trust between cpuz, real temp etc? They all very a bit and I don't really want to drive beyond 1.4 with a 2600k.

5) I take it, if I am going to get a serious OC, then the CPU Voltage (presumably Vcore) should be manually punched in versus offset mode.

6) Asus P8P67 Pro - Mobo - I left the toggle switches for EPU and TPU in their default location (off) - is that where I should leave them?

7)... just a few off the wall questions - any problems running USB 2 devices on a USB 3 port?

8) ... Is there anything that I should be running on the Intel SATA? I don't have anything plugged into the Marvell Sata nor Intel. All found devices are plugged into the four light blue SATA ports.

Thanks a bunch! The build went exceptionally well, flash went well, everything worked! I was kind of skittish after reading the long string of issues folks were having with Asus P8p67..

Type in the voltage you want and hit enter.

2) how much can i trust autotune on the ai suite?

Don't use it, it doesn't work as well as MSI's oc genie.

3) if i oc through the suite - is it the exact same as if i went into the bios and did it manually? The reason i ask is because under ai suite, i set the voltage to 1.25 and cpuz notes the voltage at 1.328.

You can use AI Suite to OC but be careful of the values it might bsod. I found it to be accurate reading voltages that I set in the bios.

4) which vcore can i trust between cpuz, real temp etc? They all very a bit and i don't really want to drive beyond 1.4 with a 2600k.

I use cpuz to monitor my vcore. I don't see anything to monitor vcore in realtemp. I tried 1.47v my PC and chip didn't blow up like people keep saying.

5) i take it, if i am going to get a serious oc, then the cpu voltage (presumably vcore) should be manually punched in versus offset mode.

I didn't use offset.

6) asus p8p67 pro - mobo - i left the toggle switches for epu and tpu in their default location (off) - is that where i should leave them?

EPU & TPU should only be enabled if you want to use the AutoTune OC feature.

7)... Just a few off the wall questions - any problems running usb 2 devices on a usb 3 port?

I don't know. I did not even test my USB 2.0 devices on my USB 3.0 ports. But my guess is that they are backwards compatible and just revert to slower speeds. I just plugged in my USB 2.0 devices into the USB 2.0 ports.

8) ... Is there anything that i should be running on the intel sata? I don't have anything plugged into the marvell sata nor intel. All found devices are plugged into the four light blue sata ports.

Yes, 6.0 Gbps ssd drives.
